i-Creamy, Sydney CBD

I haven’t been out much lately, as I guess everyone can see with the lack of activity here and the cob webs starting to form. But I do try to get out as much as I can. Last month, I did manage to sneak out and watch the much-anticipated Aladdin, we had purchased our tickets late last year and finally the day arrived. With much talk around it as soon as it opened, we knew we made the right choice months ahead.

So while having the chance to be out, there is no slipping up on getting in some foodventures along the way. So, this lovely Saturday afternoon we were standing in the queue-less i-Creamy for our rose ice cream.

Two flavours $6.90, Three flavours $8.90

There are only a handful of flavours to choose from for your rose ice cream, and these can be noted with the green four clover stands. On this lovely Saturday afternoon I went with the apple cinnamon and creaming soda. The apple pie had bits of dried apple inside, which gave you a nice little textural bite. The creaming soda is everything you would expect it to be, it really reminds me of the Schweppes creaming soda that you can get in Hong Kong, the yellow soda.

I-creamy really lives up to their name, as the ice cream is smooth and creamy.

Flavours do range, so you are always assured to get a different combination if you do revisit.

There is one thing I am sure of, this is one rose no lady will be decline… ok, I can’t speak for all ladies, but I know this isn’t one I will decline. Would you?

Watch below how the rose ice cream is made.

Connoisseur: The empire collection

I may or may not need to make a confession,
It could also be a premonition,
That I think I have a new addiction,
To connoisseur: the empire collection.

The launch of the new empire collection of connoisseur is here!! And to celebrate this connoisseur are giving out a free scoop of ice cream!! Did someone say a free scoop of ice cream? Um… I am so there.

And you got that right! The first day of this promotion, Wednesday 17th September after work – Miss CC and I were standing to an empty store without a queue and the inner impatient part of us were squealing with happiness! The perks of first day goodies! But we were told they had a big rush after school, guess kiddies also got a sweet treat for the day.

So, four new flavours are released inspired by historical characters! Emperor jing zong which is red bean with coconut. Emperor Nero, which consists of decadent coffee, chocolate coated hazelnuts and hazelnut liquor. King Cyrus of Persia is pistachio with cinnamon, honey and dates. Last we have King Louis XIV which is French vanilla with chocolate flakes and Armagnac sauce.

Four flavours, two girls and only one free scoop each –a wise choice had to be made.  We chose Emperor Nero and King Cyrus of Persia. Must say, I didn’t quite enjoy King Cyrus, nothing against him but the flavours did not quite hit me well. However, Emperor Nero on the other hand was quite a gentleman, offering bites of hazelnut was good along with the bittersweet coffee. Another scoop would have been nice.

If you want your free scoop, then be sure to hit them up before the 21st of September! I’m not sure how the queues will be holding up now, but for a Wednesday at 5.30pm, I reckon we were pretty lucky to beat any rush that was to be had.

And remember to hashtag #empirecollection with your instagram photo upload for your chance to win a tub of these goodies for the day!

I love free things, especially when they’re right up my alley of loves! How about you? I mean, no one would ever say no to anything free right?

… Except perhaps a free loader …

Cupcakes by Corrie: ice cream macarons

Cupcakes by Corrie,
Her macarons filled with glory,
There’s nothing to worry,
Though your waist may be sorry!

What’s sitting in this humble little paper bag, you ask?

A couple of weeks ago, Miss CC and I picked up these little goodies (Cupcakes from Corrie) that we had already nicknamed “Big Macs” because they are bigger than your average delicate macarons. However, what makes these any different apart from size? The filling is … ice cream.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Cliché, I know.

$6 each

“What flavours do you want?”
“Oh what a hard choice … I want all!”
“How about we just get all four and share it between us.”
Well, if you insist Miss CC – I guess I can accommodate.  But yes, I was elated with joy!

Apple Crumble

We couldn’t wait when we got back home, despite being told to put them straight into the freezer ... we had to eat some! So, we start with the apple crumble and banoffee pie.  The apple crumble has hints of cinnamon and lovely bites of raisins. Giving you that familiar apple crumble kick.

Banoffee Pie

The banoffee pie would probably be considered our favourite having the most amount of flavour. The distinctive banana hit is hard to go amiss.

Yes, let’s get cranking on some study … concentrate. My mind constantly flowed back to the two lonely and bright macarons sitting in my freezer waiting to be demolished into my belly!

Blueberry cheesecake

But yes, we totally should have been patient girls and placed the other two in the freezer for at least half an hour to enjoy. But #noregrets. The blueberry cheesecake macaron is more subtle with their flavours, little bits of blueberry excites the tastebuds.

Red velvet

The red velvet as expected gives you the cream cheese hit, though don’t worry, it’s great that it’s subtle again. But honestly, I know I said “subtle” for basically all flavours…but you really don’t want them to have too much as it would defeat the whole macaron experience.

AND BOY, those shells!! I was expecting them to have lost some texture from being placed in the freezer with ice cream squeezed between.  But the chewy yet fresh crunch exterior made me squirm in all ways!

We were content. Well, until we realised we ate 2 “big macs” each in total…

So Miss Corrie makes these macarons as a batch and posts on her facebook page that you can put orders through for collection. So if you’re interested, like the page and watch the space for when her next batch is in the making!! And as the name suggests, she obviously makes more than ice cream filled macarons! Just check her page out and see what awesome goodies her talent-ness creates!

How I wish I had a touch of creativeness and kitchen-friendly soul like her… #envy
