[Recipe] Protein Balls

So the brother comes up to me sometime last week and told me that he had some really nice protein balls. But hearing him say that, usually does say a lot about the food. He is one very picky eater. However he has been very adamant about me trying it. Perhaps it would help his point of telling me, and that point is to make some for him.

I’m not complaining about him asking me to make things for him – as a matter of fact, I should probably appreciate it now and feel honoured. For once he gets himself a better half, he would be off in his own world and forget the fact that he even has a sister!

The recipe is from his mate’s girlfriend, Miss NL. It’s super easy and super quick to make. Chuck, blend, roll, refrigerate!

Makes: 12 – 15 balls
Prep time: 20 minutes
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:
½ cup protein (plain or vanilla)
¼ cup raw cacao powder
5 fresh dates, seeds removed
4-tablespoon coconut oil (or nut butter)
Shredded or desiccated coconut
Skim/Soy Milk (only a little added to your mix IF it is too dry)

Method:

Throw all your ingredients in the blender/food processor and blend it through until it combines
If ingredients are still dry and will not stick, add a little milk and blend again

How to know if it is of the right consistency, is when you see all the ingredients are sticking together in one big clump. When it actually doesn’t look very pretty.

Roll them into balls, to whatever size you prefer. Naturally, little ones you get more. Bigger, well not as much. Roll them around in the coconut.
Place in fridge, and keep them stored in the fridge.

BOOM! Then they are done and hello healthy little morsels!

But yes, easy recipes will always have my attention. Hard ones ... well, it doesn't make me feel very good about failure haha! ;)
